Researchers funded by a consortium of pharmaceutical companies and Europe's Innovative Medicines Initiative are using advanced laser technology to identify how drug molecules interact with protein receptors in order to develop more effective medicines. Scientists at the University of Nottingham in the U.K. are looking at how compounds attach to cells' surface proteins and will explore the relationship between effectiveness and length of time spent bound to the cell.
