Higher GDM risk seen in pregnant women with low adiponectin
Women with low adiponectin levels in the first trimester of pregnancy had higher rates of insulin resistance and a greater risk of gestational diabetes compared with those who had normal glucose tolerance, a study in Diabetes Care revealed. Researchers noted an odds ratio of 1.12 for each 1 mcg/mL decrease in adiponectin in pregnant women.
