Study ties gene mutation to type 1 diabetes in mice
Turning off the PTPN22 gene in mice resulted in higher levels of regulatory T cells and a reduced risk of autoimmune diabetes, researchers at Joslin Diabetes Center and the University of Würzburg in Germany found. The findings were published in the journal Diabetes.
