Blinking helps us focus, research indicates
Scientists say they've figured out why people blink, with help from the television show "Mr. Bean." Subjects' brains and eyes were monitored while they watched the comedy series, allowing researchers to determine that blinking helps people to shut out unwanted stimuli and to help them focus more effectively, not just to restore moisture to their eyes.
