India implements compensation rules for injury, death in studies
India's government is making compensation mandatory when clinical trial volunteers are injured or die. Failure to comply could result in a ban or suspension of trials for drug companies and clinical research organizations. Compensation will be decided by an independent committee appointed by the drug controller general of India on a case-to-case basis, according to a government official.
