Extra-virgin olive oil is being produced in the U.S. by companies such as California Olive Ranch, Cowgirl Brands and Seka Hills. Producers say foreign companies are mislabeling some oil, describing it as extra virgin even though it does not meet standards. U.S.-made oil accounts for only 2% of domestic sales.
