Conn. district uses grant to launch teacher-development program
New Haven, Conn., Superintendent of Schools Garth Harries, local union President David Cicarella and others came together Tuesday to announce a $1 million grant from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation that will go toward financing a teacher-development program. Under the Empowered Effective Educators program, the goal will be to give teachers additional time to collaborate and share ideas about best practices to improve classroom instruction.
