Pa. meets little opposition to common core transition
While education officials in some states have raised objections to the implementation of the Common Core State Standards, the response in Pennsylvania has been relatively positive, with the majority of a governor-appointed panel approving the adoption of the common core in 2010. "That's because the standards are not really in any conflict with standards that Pennsylvania already has," said Ron Cowell, president of the nonprofit Education Policy and Leadership Center in Harrisburg.
