Common core sparks enthusiasm for professional development
Educators in Alabama say improved test scores are due to recent professional-development programs at the Key Leaders Network, a program from the Alabama Best Practices Center. Now, educators say such professional development will be increasingly important as schools in the state adopt the Common Core State Standards. The program encourages teachers to work collaboratively to improve schools, said Cathy Gassenheimer, executive vice president for the Alabama Best Practices Center.
