Study ties coronary calcium levels to risk of stroke
Strokes were three times more common in people with high levels of coronary artery calcification, according to a study of almost 4,200 people in Germany. "Stroke risk is tightly aligned with coronary atherosclerosis, showing the closely related nature of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular disease," the study's lead researcher said. The findings were published in the journal Stroke.
