Study ties parathyroid hormone levels to cardiovascular risks
Older patients with high-normal levels of parathyroid hormone were significantly more likely to develop cardiovascular disease than those with lower levels, according to an analysis of data from more than 1,000 people ages 65 to 88 in the Netherlands. Researchers also found a link between higher parathyroid levels and increased risk of abdominal aortic calcification in men. The findings appear in the Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism.
