Study finds vitamin D supplements don't affect blood pressure levels
Researchers tracked 159 patients with isolated systolic hypertension ages 70 and older and found no significant differences in blood pressure levels between those who received vitamin D supplements or a placebo for one year. Vitamin D supplementation also failed to improve other measures of cardiovascular health, including serum calcium levels and arterial stiffness, in the randomized trial. The findings appear in the journal JAMA Internal Medicine.
