Government explores how patent-holding firms affect competition
The government is taking a closer look at the impact that patent-holding firms have on competition. "There has been a great deal of controversy and disagreement about whether they stifle innovation and whether they are an anticompetitive problem," said Jon Leibowitz, chairman of the Federal Trade Commission. The FTC and the Justice Department are inviting interested parties to attend hearings on the issue.
