McThai, the only McDonald's franchisee in Thailand, has instituted a one-hour limit on tables during peak traffic times in an effort to combat the growing problem of groups that commandeer tables for hours to do work. Starbucks took similar steps in Thailand earlier this year, and both chains say the problem has been growing as students opt for the more casual setting instead of going to the library.
