Defense Secretary Leon Panetta might retire during President Barack Obama's second term, and the front-runners to replace him include Colin Powell, Ashton Carter and Michèle Flournoy, who would be the first woman to hold the post. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has said she will not serve in a second Obama term; she could be replaced by John Kerry, Susan Rice or Tom Donilon.
