Citigroup will cut 11,000 jobs, reduce global footprint
Citigroup said Wednesday that it will trim its workforce about 4% -- or 11,000 jobs -- as it tries to increase returns by cutting costs. The bank will also take a $1 billion pretax charge in the fourth quarter related to the downsizing, which will include closing branches and exiting certain markets. The moves are the first major ones for new CEO Michael Corbat.
