School nutrition professionals in California recently participated in a Food Network-style cooking challenge in which teams receive a "mystery basket" of food to use to create student-friendly dishes. The competition was hosted by the California School Nutrition Association at its annual conference. Dishes were judged on presentation, taste and whether they adhered to new federal standards for school meals.
