Polish reactor steps up isotope production efforts:
The MARIA research reactor in Poland has increased isotope production efforts following the shutdown of the research reactor in Petten, the Netherlands. The reactor conducted additional irradiation sessions to produce extra molybdenum-99 that could allow for 300,000 more medical tests. Operators of the reactor said this was one way of addressing a gap in the nuclear medicine preparation market resulting from the closure.
