Designing power distribution systems that can intuitively adapt to shifting supply and demand is a critical step to boosting energy efficiency, but to date most efforts to advance so-called demand response solutions have been hampered by narrowly focused technology and fragmented marketing, some experts say. According to Kevin Klustner and Todd Greenwalt of Powerit Solutions, to close the gap, the DR community needs to focus on developing embedded solutions that are scalable across the emerging smart grid while targeting more energy intensive industries.
