The Healthcare Supply Chain Association has called on the FDA to reduce from seven years to three years the time frame for implementing a unique device identifier system for medical devices. "Patient safety outcomes far outweigh any rationale, economic or otherwise, for such a prolonged phase-in," the group said in a comment letter sent to the FDA.
