In Episode 5 of The Mostly AI SmartPod, the hosts examine why AI is both the villain and the savior in third-party cyberrisk management. Cyberrisk Strategist Jeffery Wheatman of Black Kite joined the show to break down AI’s role as both an enabler for malicious actors and a shield for defenders. Wheatman discussed how bad actors leverage open models to execute familiar cyberattacks at breakneck speeds, noting that the window between vulnerability discovery and announcement has shrunk significantly.
“Bad actors are like water. They flow downhill. They find the easiest way,” Wheatman said, who also compared the fight with bad actors to being at war. “I’m a big fan of Sun Tzu, The Art of War. We are at war, and we’re losing. And a big chunk of it… is the lack of collaboration. And I think if we can expand that collaboration, I think that will go a long way toward closing that down.”
