Episode 3 of The Mostly AI SmartPod features an interview with Semify President and CEO Patrick Briggs on the future, risks and opportunities in AI for digital marketing.
Briggs emphasized the importance of human oversight in AI-driven marketing. Briggs cautioned against excessive automation and the risk of model collapse, emphasizing that human oversight is vital for adding unique value and maintaining competitive advantage. The discussion critiques the overuse and misuse of the “human-in-the-loop” term and advocates instead that humans be central partners in AI processes, ensuring creativity and differentiation in an increasingly automated field.
Briggs summed it up succinctly, “If the models are feeding on their own content and it becomes this recursive loop, it really destroys the value of LLMs. And I part of what I think is going on in this ecosystem and why Google is really saying to us and why the why the rest of the ecosystem needs human in the loop design is because if they if these models become so fed on their own content, it destroys that business.”
Plus, the Notbots (AI Impact SmartBrief editors, Michael Domingo, Victoria Martinez and Susan Rush) also cover recent AI innovations in the food industry, AI fatigue and the importance of human-in-the-loop when it comes to AI creation and content.
Victoria rounds out the episode in her “2-Minute Tech Pulse,” breaking down the latest AI tools shaping research and engagement, including the Perplexity Comet Browser, IBM’s Key Moments app for Wimbledon and the AI notepad app Granola.
