SmartPulse — our weekly reader poll in SmartBrief on Workforce — tracks feedback from leading managers and HR practitioners. We run the poll question each Wednesday in our e-newsletter.
Last week, we asked: Are you matching funds for your employees’ 401(k)?
- Yes — we are doing our full match — 48%
- Yes — we are doing a partial match of what we were doing before — 19%
- No — we aren’t matching funds anymore — 17%
- No — we never matched funds — 16%
Almost 7 in 10 people said they were doing some sort of match, with almost half of those polled saying they are doing full 401(k) matches. While the 401(k) has been panned for a while as a fool’s gold solution to dying pension funds, it seems reassuring that many employers are staying committed in some way as the recession wanes. While the long-term viability of the 401(k) is still in doubt in my mind, at least for now, all seems fairly stable.
