Today’s bonus tracks: It’s time to scrap the old model for conferences

“I’ve realized that I can’t stand conferences,” writes Valerie Casey for Fast Company. “Almost without exception, after each conference I attend, I swear I’ll never go again.”

Ugh! Who has never felt that way? Still, Casey admits, ” we do need them, or something like them,” and says there must be a better way. She offers six strategies she observed at a recent two-day workshop that could serve as the building blocks for a new 21st Century model of conferences. For that to happen, conference planners will have to open their minds and take some risks, but it looks like it might be worth the effort.
