Vintage candy wrappers to help dementia patients

01/1/2014 | Daily Mail (London), The

Rowntree, a division of Nestle, has placed a selection of its vintage candy wrappers in an online photo gallery in hopes that it will help dementia sufferers remember happy experiences. The product labels, which include Aero, Dairy Box, Fruit Gums, Chocolate Pie and Motoring Chocolate, can be printed out and placed on current versions of chocolate bars. "We came up with this idea because lots of people started asking us for old photographs. ... We selected a range that were the most interesting and varied, in the hope that even if a memory wasn't conjured up, they would still enjoy looking at them and talking about it," said Alex Hutchinson, a Nestle archivist.
