Facebook's Instagram acquisition was all about data, David Armano writes. Buying the application gives Facebook a strategic toehold in the mobile business, but that only matters because mobile interactions will be a colossal source of marketable user data. "The Web is going social, mobile and local. All of this will generate a lot of data, and that's going to be valuable in a lot of ways," Armano writes.
