Stakeholders aren't prepared for stage 2 SNOMED criteria, expert says

Dave Delano of the Massachusetts eHealth Collaborative has expressed concern that many in the industry may not be able to meet the clinical quality measures for using SNOMED under stage 2 of the meaningful use program because the codes are too complex and aren't widely used by providers and EHR vendors. The government should start a national campaign to raise awareness on the SNOMED criteria and offer opportunities for stakeholders to learn the codes and test the CQMs before reporting, he said.
