FDA will release notification rule to curb drug shortages

Drugmakers will have to notify the FDA about interruptions or discontinuances in the manufacturing of life-saving treatments under a proposed rule that the agency is set to publish. The rule would mandate early notification from makers of drugs considered life-sustaining or life-supporting or that are used in the treatment or prevention of debilitating diseases.
