Lawmakers introduce bill to address U.S. veterinary shortage in underserved areas

U.S. senators on Wednesday introduced a bill that aims to address the lack of veterinarians in underserved areas across the country. "This legislation will help alleviate the shortage of veterinarians and maximize the program through addressing the tax treatment of program assistance," one of the bill's co-sponsors said. The bill, known as the Veterinary Medicine Loan Repayment Program Enhancement Act, is supported by AVMA and other groups.
