More supermarkets are embracing mobile as advantages become clear

The number of supermarkets offering mobile-enabled convenience for shoppers has more than doubled in the first half of the year, according to MyWebGrocer, although the total remains small. The advantages for consumers include the ability to compile and maintain shopping lists and gather coupons in one place. But grocers see advantages as well, as "mobile shoppers spend 68% more than in-store shoppers" and over time grow more loyal to a particular store, said Rebecca Roose, senior product marketing manager at MyWebGrocer.
