High price tag stops Nevada residents from installing solar panels

Low participation in a Nevada program aimed at encouraging residents to install solar panels is blamed on the economic downturn, according to officials. A federal tax credit and state rebate program reduces the cost of installing panels that would generate 4.5 kilowatts to about $22,000. Still, the price is too high for many residents, says NV Energy CEO Michael Yackira.
