Stagnant sales, buyout battle hit Dell's bottom line in Q2

Dell says its profits were down 72% in the second quarter amid stagnant sales. Founder Michael Dell is aggressively pursuing a $25 billion buyout that would take the company private, and some analysts say the Q2 results could bolster his claim that his proposal is the best way to reinvigorate the company. "They can't compete on a level playing field when you have a wrestling match over the future of the company," said Carr Lanphier, a Morningstar analyst.
