ID tags and microchip keep pets safe

Veterinarian Tracy Acosta writes that in the wake of recent natural disasters, it's more important than ever to have identification tags and a microchip for pets. Dr. Acosta points out that while collar tags are very useful, microchips are permanent, always placed between the shoulder blades, and embedded with all the owner's contact information; microchip companies are staffed round-the-clock, so chips increase the chances of pets being reunited with owners.
