The new political environment makes it less likely that the Employee Free Choice Act or the Paycheck Fairness Act will become law next year, writes Mike Aitken, director of government affairs for the Society for Human Resource Management. However, he warns, HR professionals should continue to keep an eye on the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act and proposals to strengthen the employment-verification process, among other issues.
