The arts take center stage in schools' curriculum

The Oklahoma A+ Schools network of public magnet schools has earned praise from Secretary of Education Arne Duncan and others, in part, for its successful infusion of the arts into its curriculum. Among the eight "essentials" that guide the schools, are the arts, collaboration among teachers, experiential learning and "multiple intelligences." However, the model has faced challenges, such as funding, in states where it has been adopted.
