Pentagon looks for treatments for illnesses affecting deployed troops

The Pentagon's Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency is looking to develop a treatment that would provide quick relief for conditions that commonly affect troops abroad, including diarrhea, malaria and the flu. Severe diarrhea among deployed service members cost the military more than 1 million service days in Iraq and Afghanistan, DARPA reported.
