Column: Airlines face pilot shortage

A pilot shortage is forcing some airlines to cancel flights and lower experience requirements for new hires, the Wall Street Journal's Scott McCartney writes. He notes the legislation passed last week that boosts the mandatory retirement age for commercial pilots from 60 to 65 may slow the number of pilots that large airlines are hiring away from smaller carriers.
