Foodable WebTV network releases Fast Casual Nation documentary trailer

With fast casual restaurants rapidly on the rise, the restaurant industry has forever changed. Even though fast casuals are emerging as the consumer favorite, this evolving segment has yet to be defined. Foodable WebTV Network has ventured to inform the industry and consumers with the first and only WebTV series about the segment, Fast Casual Nation. The episodes feature exclusive interviews from top chefs, restaurateurs and other industry insiders, while giving the viewer a close-up look at the menus that are changing the way America eats.

Foodable WebTV Network is taking it one step further by revealing a more in-depth look into the segment by producing Fast Casual Nation– The Documentary. A first of its kind, the documentary explores the birth of the Fast Casual restaurant segment through exclusive interviews with the industry insiders, who started it all. It will take viewers behind the scenes of the concepts that are changing and influencing modern-day dining.The documentary highlights some of the best and most innovative fast casuals around the country, farmed from four seasons of coverage in the industry. This documentary will provide viewers a visual bite of what the segment has to offer.

The Consumer Favorite

Fast Casuals have altered the competitive landscape in the restaurant business by impacting the expectations of the consumer. The restaurants are convenient, tech savvy, fast, have low price points and they offer quality food options with just the right amount of customer service. Millennials have flocked to these options and since this generation will soon have the greatest buying power in the market, fast casuals will only continue to crowd the restaurant business.

How it all Started

Paul Barron, started pioneering the fast casual segment in 1993, long before it became mainstream in 2003-2004. However, the fast casual darling, Chipotle only opened its first location outside Colorado in 1999. The success of this Mexican Grill has influenced growth from other fast casual brands. So far in 2014, DigitalCoCo tracked more than 600 fast casual brands and that is projected to increase to 700 by mid 2015. The potential for this segment seems limitless, with a restaurant industry accounting for 700 billion. Technomic, a leading research firm for the industry, reports fast casual restaurants currently occupy 35 billion with the strongest growth in the restaurant business over the past several years.

Fast casual restaurants are changing and influencing the landscape of the entire restaurant industry and the Fast Casual Documentary will analyze the current major players, trends, and influences of segment. It will answer those hard hitting questions while investigating what the future holds for the segment and the modern day restaurant consumers.
