As we continue to emerge from the effects of a global pandemic, a partnership approach to economic development is crucial. Global engagement is critically important as the state’s businesses look to sustain their customer base, continue to grow or enter new markets.
In Georgia, this is particularly important as the Georgia Department of Economic Development (GDEcD) International Trade team places continued priority on the state’s exporting clout. Together with economic development partners, local communities, and international representatives, GDEcD’s International Trade team wants to connect more businesses with resources beyond the state’s borders.
A major goal of this team is to make sure that every Georgia company is aware of the state’s trade resources and the global opportunities that are available. This year, the GDEcD team launched a new marketing tool, the Export Georgia, USA Directory. This free resource provides a platform for international buyers to connect with Georgia suppliers who want to explore new business opportunities. Georgia’s new online marketing directory offers a place to connect, promote quality Georgia-made and Georgia-grown products, and spur new international connections.
GDEcD’s International Trade team helps Georgia companies pursue long-term growth strategies by focusing on export development. While exporting may seem daunting – even the smallest companies can export successfully with the support of the GDEcD team.
The Export Georgia, USA Directory was created to provide virtual connections to promote and encourage international sales. Bottom line – this new tool will connect Georgia suppliers with international buyers.
Even in the midst of a pandemic, the GDEcD team assisted more than 900 Georgia companies located in 119 counties during the past year. The vast majority of these were small businesses, whose success will be critical to Georgia’s economic recovery.
The International Trade team is working hard to build on this momentum, and populating this database with Georgia products and services will help further our goals.
Here are some of things businesses are saying about the GDEcD’s customized export services:
“GDEcD’s International Trade team connected us to Georgia’s representative in Korea who provided us significant market research and introduced us to a potential customer in South Korea. Today, Asia continues to be one of our growing markets.” — Katy Kleinmann, Vice President of Business Development for One-World, Inc.
“GDEcD has added value to SweetWater’s export strategy from the very beginning. What stands out the most is the multi-functional aspect of how GDEcD works with Georgia exporters. They are very flexible in terms of services offered… We can ask for help at any time during the export process from start to finish.” — Sowady Lor, Chief Explorer Officer of SweetWater Brewing Company
