SmartBrief’s food and beverage readers had the holidays on their minds this week. The week’s top two stories both covered news of holiday treats, with the most-clicked story telling the tale of Blue Bell selling out of its limited-release Christmas Cookies ice cream flavor less than two months after it was released. Readers also clicked on a story about how consumers’ favorite Christmas candies vary from state to state, according to results from a recent survey.

News about restaurant chain In-N-Out Burger was also popular with readers this week. The burger chain was recognized as one of the best restaurants to work on Glassdoor’s annual ranking, along with Chick-fil-A, Darden Restaurants and Starbucks. In-N-Out’s plans to expand into Colorado next year was also one of the week’s top food and beverage stories.

Stories about new products and menu items also ranked high among readers, with McDonald’s newest value menu coming in as the third most-clicked food and beverage story this week. General Mills and Snyder’s Lance new product launches also proved popular, including General Mills Foodservice’ launch of Pillsbury and Gold Medal products with clean labels.
