New type of battery offers big advantages for renewable energy

A new type of battery that's no more costly than lead-acid batteries but twice as efficient without using toxic materials is seen as a way to make round-the-clock renewable energy viable, according to this article. Aquion, a startup in Pennsylvania, is already producing the sodium-ion batteries and sending them out to customers for trial runs.
