SmartPulse — our weekly reader poll in Smartbrief on Social Media — tracks feedback from leading marketers about social media practices and issues. Paul Chaney, Internet marketing director for Bizzuka and member of the SmartBrief on Social Media Advisory Board, helps create the questions and analyzes the results. We run the poll question each Wednesday in our e-newsletter and feature Paul’s analysis on this blog.
Last week’s poll question: How concerned are you about the security risk of posting personal information on social-networking sites?
- Very concerned 44%
- Moderately concerned 37%
- Slightly concerned 17%
- Not concerned at all 3%
“I been working online for years, so I don’t fear posting personal information on social networking sites. However, I can understand how some people, such as those with young children, would have such concerns, In general, though, I feel we live in an age when privacy is out the window. Therefore, it was surprising to find that nearly half the respondents expressed grave concern. What specific concerns do you have?” –Paul Chaney
